Why didn't Jesus utter a single word to condemn slavery?

In many of his stories, he would praise masters who treated their slaves humanely. Slavery in the times of the Roman Empire was different from what was done in the US. Some slaves actually could be pretty well off, educated professionals. Some of the plebes/commoners actually lived in worse conditions than slaves.
