Did you child wear booties or socks home from the hospital?

I'm picking out my daughters take home outfit/picture outfit. I'd prefer booties but don't know if they tend to fall off their little feet. Also the sizes are varying. Like one pair i fell in love with are 4in long. Too long you think? Should I buy crochet ones that may hug the feet more? I'm looking on the etsy site and just don't know what style will stay on best.
