Why insist on using gasoline (oil, fuel, etc) when we can now change?

Why so stubborn when we have the minds and intellect of creating or using an alternative energy source for heating, running cars (we already have smart cars...), running big factories. Doesn't the running out of natural resources and destroying our planet's atmosphere bother you guys at all? I feel nervous as hell for my grandkids and their grandkids.........
