Why are bulimics promiscuous?

Usually people who are bulimic have body issues or problems with their self esteem. Having people notice you, compliment you, etc makes you feel good and it raises your self esteem and makes you feel good. So, that's what I would think. I have never been bulimic but friends of mine are / have been so this is just what I have been told. Also, a lot of times, there is an underlying issue that is hard for the affected person to deal with. Perhaps that is why. Acceptance?
